Independent stock analyst Abdullah Al Rezwan, known as MBI, announced on September 29 that he liquidated his Airbnb position to increase his holdings in Meta. This decision followed a 10-day testing period of Meta's AI agent, Muse.
During testing, MBI observed that Muse could autonomously navigate the Airbnb website, input search criteria, and compare prices. The AI agent identified that booking directly with a host could be approximately 60% cheaper than using the Airbnb platform, while also supporting automated payment processing.
MBI highlighted that Muse integrates cross-platform data, including past travel history and Instagram preferences, to provide personalized recommendations. He introduced the concept of 'Proactive Commerce,' where AI agents handle decision-making, price comparisons, and order execution based on user-defined preferences.
Despite its potential, MBI noted that Muse is currently in an early stage. The browser-based operations are slow, with a 14-minute duration required to compare five hotels, and early results often lack visual content like images or maps.
In an article published on October 2, MBI argued that Muse might not require direct advertising to generate value for Meta. He suggests that the data collected from user interactions and browsing habits will enhance Meta's overall advertising system, improving ad targeting on Facebook and Instagram.
