AMD has officially unveiled the specifications and bulk pricing for its new EPYC 9006 Venice server processor series. The lineup includes 31 models based on the Zen 6 architecture, distributed across two distinct platforms, SP7 and SP8. Pricing for these processors starts at $700 for the 8-core EPYC 9016 and reaches $14,904 for the flagship 256-core EPYC 9996.
The flagship EPYC 9996 features 256 Zen 6c cores and 512 threads, with a base clock speed of 2.55 GHz and a boost frequency up to 4.1 GHz. It includes 1 GB of L3 cache and a default CPU power rating of 600 watts, configurable between 400 and 600 watts. AMD notes that these specifications remain subject to potential adjustments before the final release.
The SP7 platform consists of 9 models ranging from 64 to 256 cores, with prices between $8,008 and $14,904. The SP8 platform offers 22 models with core counts from 8 to 128, peaking with the 128-core EPYC 9746 priced at $11,679. AMD has replaced the traditional TDP metric with a default CPU power designation for this generation.
Systems utilizing the SP7 platform are expected to launch in the fourth quarter of 2026, while SP8-based servers are scheduled for the first half of 2027. The listed prices reflect bulk orders of 1,000 units. AMD claims that the new Venice processors significantly outperform the Nvidia Vera CPU, positioning the flagship EPYC 9996 as a key competitor in the high-performance server market.
