AMD plans to integrate its AI-driven FSR 4 technology across its entire product lineup, including APUs, gaming laptops, and handheld devices, by the end of 2026. Jack Huynh, head of AMD's consumer chip division, stated that the company will pursue a two-pronged strategy involving both existing APUs and new hardware releases.
The rollout will include a new APU alongside a lightweight version of FSR 4 designed for these processors. While AMD previously limited FSR 4 promises to desktop graphics cards, the company is now expanding its scope. It remains uncertain whether older handheld devices will receive the update or if the technology will be exclusive to upcoming chips like the rumored Ryzen Z3 or Gainsborough.
Technical requirements remain a key factor, as AMD previously noted that sufficient compute power is necessary to ensure quality. Valve is currently collaborating with AMD to implement FSR 4 for the Steam Machine's console-grade APU, though no commitment has been made for the Steam Deck. AMD has not yet provided further clarification on the specific hardware compatibility.
