Hardware Unboxed and Toasty Bros tested the AMD Radeon RX 9050 4 GB graphics card, which is currently available only in OEM prebuilt systems. To obtain the hardware, the reviewers purchased CyberPowerPC desktop units.
In an 18-game test at 1080p Low settings, the 4 GB model averaged 78 FPS, while the 8 GB version reached 107 FPS. This performance gap indicates that the 8 GB variant is approximately 37% faster than the 4 GB model.
Both versions of the card feature 1024 stream processors and a boost clock of up to 2.6 GHz. The performance difference stems from memory specifications: the 4 GB model uses a 64-bit bus, 144 GB/s bandwidth, and 16 MB of Infinity Cache, which is half the capacity of the 8 GB version.
Toasty Bros identified an XFX dual-fan card with a single 8-pin connector inside their prebuilt system. AMD stated that the 4 GB card was developed for entry-level gaming systems and will not be sold as a standalone retail product.
The card was initially discovered in a CyberPowerPC Gamer Master system priced at $889.99 at Best Buy. Analysts suggest waiting for further independent testing before drawing final conclusions regarding the card's performance.
