The upcoming AMD EPYC Verano processors will utilize a new socket designated as SB1. Information regarding this interface appeared on the official website of server cooling manufacturer Dynatron, which lists compatibility for its cooling solutions with the new platform. The company has also created a product page for an active 4U cooler under the model name SB1-4U-ACTIVE.

Verano serves as the codename for the EPYC 9006 LP series, which is based on the Zen 6 architecture. These processors feature up to 72 cores and reach boost clock speeds of 5 GHz. The chips are designed to support 24 channels of LPDDR5X memory utilizing replaceable SOCAMM2 modules. AMD intends to position these units as host processors for GPU clusters within AI server racks.

The official launch for the Verano lineup is scheduled for the second half of 2027. While the company has announced the 6th Gen EPYC family, it has not yet publicly confirmed the specific socket name for the Verano series. Other chips in the Venice lineup utilize different interfaces, specifically SP7 for models with up to 256 cores and SP8 for versions reaching 128 cores.
