Amazon has unveiled a redesigned Kindle lineup featuring a flush-front display that eliminates the traditional raised bezel. To prevent accidental screen touches, the devices utilize capacitive touch technology and haptics to create a dynamic dead zone that adjusts based on where the user grips the device.

The standard 6-inch Kindle model is now 6.8 millimeters thick and weighs 140 grams. Amazon reports that the new display offers 30% faster page turns compared to the previous generation. The base model starts at $149.99, while an aluminum-backed version with 32GB of storage is also available.

The updated Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Colorsoft also feature the new thinner, lighter design. The Paperwhite starts at $199.99 for the 16GB model, with a 32GB Signature Edition priced at $249.99. The Colorsoft starts at $289.99 for 16GB, while the 32GB Signature Edition costs $319.99.

The new Kindle and its aluminum variant are available immediately in multiple regions, including the U.S., U.K., Japan, and Australia. Preorders for the new Paperwhite and Colorsoft models have also opened across these same markets. Amazon continues to offer its dedicated Kids lineup.
