Amazon Prime Video has secured the exclusive global streaming rights for the Emmy Awards under a new six-year partnership with the Television Academy. This agreement marks a significant shift in how the prestigious ceremony will be broadcast to international audiences.
Starting in 2027, the Emmy Awards ceremony will be available for free on Prime Video. This move establishes the platform as the first-ever dedicated streaming home for the event, replacing the traditional broadcast model that has been in place for decades.
The new deal effectively ends the long-standing 'Wheel Deal' rotation system. Previously, the four major US commercial networks—ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC—took turns broadcasting the awards. That rotation concluded with this year's ceremony.
According to Television Academy Chairman Cris Abrego, the partnership will allow viewers in more than 200 countries and regions to watch the awards live. Access to the stream will not require a paid subscription.
