Amazon is increasing the minimum starting wage for its U.S. operations staff, including delivery drivers and fulfillment center workers, to $20 per hour. The company stated that the average hourly pay will rise to nearly $24 per hour, reflecting a $1 per hour increase for eligible employees.

Senior Vice President Udit Madan noted that when accounting for benefits, the average total compensation exceeds $32 per hour. The company is investing over $1.5 billion in these wage adjustments, which represents approximately 0.06% of its $2.68 trillion market capitalization.

Beyond salary increases, Amazon is introducing new perks for its workforce. Employees will gain access to the Day 1 Financial banking system and membership in the First Tech Federal Credit Union. The company is also implementing a 20% discount on in-store purchases at Whole Foods Market and a 10% discount for online grocery orders.

These new offerings supplement existing benefits, which already include free Prime memberships, prepaid education programs, and healthcare coverage. The company continues to manage a wide range of operational roles across its fulfillment network in the United States.
