Amazon has introduced a new line of tablets branded as Alexa Tablets, moving away from the Fire naming convention used for the past 15 years. The devices run a full version of Android with Google Play support, marking a shift in the company's software strategy.

The lineup includes three models launching on October 14th. The Tablet 8 features an 8.7-inch screen starting at $229.99, while the 11-inch Tablet 11 starts at $329.99. Both are positioned as competitors to the iPad Mini and base iPad models.

The flagship Alexa Tablet 12 Pro starts at $499. It measures 6.5mm in thickness, weighs 550 grams, and is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 8400 processor. Users can choose between 8GB or 16GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage.

The 12.5-inch display on the Pro model features a 2800 x 1840 resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and 500 nits of brightness. A premium version priced at $549 includes a Nanomatte display developed with Corning to reduce glare and improve contrast.

The tablets integrate Alexa Plus, an LLM-powered assistant designed to analyze on-screen content and provide recommendations. Amazon is also offering optional accessories, including a keyboard case and a stylus, to support productivity use cases.
