Users of the 2026 Kindle e-reader series have reported light leakage issues along the screen edges within a week of the product launch. The problem is particularly noticeable when the device is set to dark mode, creating a contrast between the bright edges and the dark background.
Amazon addressed the concerns by stating that light visibility at the screen edges is an expected behavior for the flush-front design. The company clarified that this effect may occur specifically when the device operates in dark mode with high brightness settings in a dim environment.
Despite the official response, some users argue that the phenomenon is not normal, noting that previous models like the 2024 Kindle Paperwhite did not exhibit such issues. Other owners of the 2026 model reported that their devices function without any light leakage.
Some users have suggested that those experiencing the issue should contact Amazon support to request a device replacement. The reports originated from discussions on the Reddit platform and were subsequently covered by Android Central and Android Authority.
