Alibaba has unveiled the Zhenwu V900, which the company claims is the most powerful AI accelerator currently available in China. The new chip, developed by the T-Head Semiconductor division, offers three times the performance of its predecessor, the Zhenwu M890.
The V900 features 216 GB of HBM memory, supports FP8/FP4 calculation formats, and provides an inter-chip interconnect bandwidth of 1.2 TB/s. According to T-Head vice president Gao Hui, mass production and market launch are scheduled for the first quarter of 2027.
The company plans to build computing clusters using up to 500,000 V900 chips for training and inference tasks. Additionally, T-Head is developing the next-generation Zhenwu J900 accelerator, expected in the third quarter of 2028, and new Yitian 720 and 730 CPUs for 2027.
Alibaba CEO Wu Yongming identified AI models, AI chips, and AI cloud as the company's core strategic pillars. The Qwen team is currently working on the Qwen 5 model, which aims to reach 5–10 trillion parameters, significantly exceeding the 2.4 trillion parameters of the current Qwen 3.8-Max.
Furthermore, Alibaba has launched Qwen Intelligence, a platform designed to provide smartphone manufacturers with tools to build AI agents based on the Qwen model architecture.
