Turkish manufacturer Akia Automotive has secured a contract to supply 50 electric buses to the IETT General Directorate in Istanbul. This agreement marks the first major tender for electric buses within Turkey. The company, which is based in Istanbul and maintains production facilities in Bursa, plans to begin deliveries in 2027.

The Ultra LF12EV model is a low-floor city bus featuring a 240-kW electric motor and a 465 kWh battery pack. Each vehicle is designed to transport up to 80 passengers and includes a wheelchair ramp to improve accessibility for individuals with limited mobility.

The buses are equipped with advanced driver assistance systems and a digital camera setup that replaces traditional exterior mirrors. Operators can monitor fleet performance, energy consumption, and battery status through an integrated telematics system. The model has previously been exported to international markets, including Serbia.
