A recent CoinShares survey of 2,230 affluent investors across seven countries reveals that a majority hold digital assets. These investors possess at least $500,000 in investable assets, with crypto accounting for approximately 10% of their portfolios on average.

The study covered the US, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Sweden, and Switzerland. Ownership rates vary from 54% in Sweden to 70% in the US, UK, Germany, and Switzerland. In five of these nations, at least 85% of current crypto investors plan to increase their holdings in 2026.

Bitcoin remains the most popular asset, held by 80% of the surveyed investors. While 77% of respondents believe Bitcoin will play a significant role in the global financial system, 79% advocate for increased market regulation.

Younger investors allocate more to digital assets than older cohorts, in some cases twice as much. Many affluent investors report that their financial advisers are overly cautious regarding crypto, creating a disconnect in professional wealth management.

Ric Edelman, founder of the Digital Assets Council of Financial Professionals, suggests that actual allocations are closer to 2% to 5%. He recommends portfolios include 10% to 40% in crypto depending on risk tolerance, noting that 10% may become the norm.
