The AERO token has risen by approximately 48% over the last 30 days, outperforming Bitcoin and Ether. This growth coincides with the upcoming merger of the decentralized exchange Aerodrome with Velodrome Finance, scheduled for October 21, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. ET.
The combined protocol will operate under the name Aero and aims to support multiple Ethereum Virtual Machine chains. The merger targets an addressable market exceeding $63 billion, compared to the previous $7 billion reach.
As of October 9, 2026, the combined total value locked for both platforms is approximately $422 million. Under the new structure, 94.5% of the new token supply will be allocated to Aerodrome stakeholders, while Velodrome stakeholders will receive 5.5%.
Existing AERO tokens will be swapped for the new AERO at a 1:1 ratio, while VELO holders will receive 0.044 new AERO per token. Following the merger, the platform will transition from a weekly voting system to a real-time reward allocation model.
