Acura has announced that production of the MDX Type S will cease following the 2026 model year. The company expects that existing inventory will remain available at dealerships through the early months of 2027.

The decision to pause production is linked to uncertainty regarding upcoming U.S. emissions regulations. The EPA has proposed delaying the implementation of stricter Tier 4 standards from 2027 to 2029, though this change has not yet been finalized.

The MDX Type S currently features a 355-hp turbocharged V6 engine. Acura plans to integrate some of the model's premium features and design elements into other trim levels of the MDX lineup.

The Type S variant accounts for less than 10 percent of total MDX sales. The automaker has characterized the move as a pause, leaving open the possibility of the model's return in the future.
