Acer unveiled the EP130K portable e-paper display at IFA 2026 in Berlin. The device features a 13.3-inch matte panel with touch support and stylus compatibility, designed for reading, note-taking, and document processing. It utilizes E Ink Kaleido 3 technology, offering a resolution of 3200x2400 in monochrome and 1600x1200 in color mode, with support for 4096 colors.

A key technical highlight is the 60Hz refresh rate, which is uncommon for e-paper devices, alongside a 20ms grayscale response time. The display is intended to reduce eye strain by eliminating backlight glare and blue light. It relies on ambient light, making it suitable for outdoor use, though visibility decreases in dim environments.

The EP130K connects via a single USB-C cable for power and video transmission. It features a bistable display mechanism that retains the last image even when power is disconnected. Acer positions this product for professionals and heavy readers, marking the company's entry into a market previously dominated by niche manufacturers like Dasung and Bigme.

While the device is not designed for high-speed video or entertainment, it serves as a specialized tool for tasks such as programming, writing, and research. By introducing this hardware, Acer aims to move e-paper technology toward mainstream adoption in the productivity and office equipment sectors.
