Jason Chen, CEO of Acer, expects PC prices to peak by mid-2027 before beginning to decline. According to his forecast, prices for personal computers are set to increase by 5% to 20% during the current quarter. The executive noted that the cost of devices with higher memory capacity will see the most significant price hikes in the coming months.
Regarding component supply, Chen stated that there is no severe shortage of DDR4 and DDR5 memory. He also mentioned that high-end central processors are currently available in sufficient quantities, with supply constraints primarily affecting entry-level and mid-range models. Acer plans to address memory shortages through the introduction of new production capacities.
The Acer leadership highlighted a disconnect between suppliers and customers, noting that component manufacturers are prioritizing high prices for memory and SSDs, while buyers are resisting these costs. Meanwhile, memory producers and Intel offer a more cautious outlook, suggesting that supply-demand imbalances may persist, with some forecasts predicting shortages until 2028.
