The new UP Xtreme PTL Edge Air mini-PC from Aaeon features Intel Core Ultra 3rd generation Panther Lake processors. The device replaces traditional fans with the AirJet active cooling system from Frore Systems, which utilizes an ultrasonic diaphragm to manage thermal output.
The integration of this cooling technology allowed the manufacturer to reduce the device thickness by 35% and its weight by 43% compared to the fan-cooled UP Xtreme PTL Edge model. The resulting chassis measures 35.8 mm in thickness, while noise levels are capped at 21 dB(A).
The device is available with Intel Core Ultra 7 358H, Ultra 7 356, and Ultra 5 325 processors. Connectivity options include two USB-C ports with 40 Gbps data transfer speeds, two 2.5 Gbps RJ-45 ports, two COM ports, and a 40-pin GPIO header.
Storage is handled by two M.2 2280 PCIe NVMe slots, with an additional slot provided for a wireless network adapter. The system is designed for space-constrained environments such as self-service terminals, autonomous mobile robots, and medical systems.
Technical trade-offs include a 6% increase in power consumption compared to the previous model. Additionally, the operating temperature range for the new unit is specified between -10 and +45 degrees Celsius.
