In late August 2026, the State Commission for Radio Frequencies authorized Russian operators to deploy 5G networks. Experts from Crosstech project that this initiative will drive a 30–40% increase in demand for cybersecurity services and products within the telecommunications sector by 2027.

Currently, telecom companies account for 12–15% of the total demand for cybersecurity solutions. Existing 4G security systems are insufficient for 5G requirements, necessitating the development of new infrastructure. Approximately 80% of the projected demand will focus on network security tools, anti-DDoS systems, access management, and API protection.

Crosstech experts suggest that cybersecurity infrastructure projects for 5G will be implemented gradually over the next five to six years. The pace of these developments depends on the rollout speed of 5G networks and the production capacity of domestic base station manufacturers.

The cost of implementing a comprehensive cybersecurity system for a 5G network in a major city is estimated to range from several hundred million to 1 ₽–2 billion. Final project costs will vary based on implementation timelines and the involvement of in-house security vendors within telecom ecosystems.
